Lynn - first draft new paintings - flowers and glass vases. All need a lot more work.
Am trying to convey something about being inside the vase, the flowers pressed against the glass, different surfaces and textures.

Sheri - latest life painting

Here's my latest too. I was standing next to Richard! It's not the normal pose we're used to, not as classical, but that suited us fine after nearly a decade of life drawing!

Michael: New print in progress

I've started work on a new linocut. It's 30 x 24cm: the largest block I've worked with, so far.

This is the first stage: I've sketched the design in pencil, and then gone over it in detail with a Sharpie marker. (The best sort of marker to work with on lino! It doesn't lose any of its definition when you clean the plate -- all other "waterproof" markers that I've tried fade in the washing.)

Linocut: Work in progress

This stage took about three hours... It's going to be a long night.

Richard - Life class

Catching up with my pictures from some recent life classes. You should be able to match up poses with some of the pictures Sheri has already poseted ...

Sheri - 'congregation'

Here are a few WIPs from my latest painting, for 'Congregation', an exhibition part of Brighton's Artists Open House Festival. I've spent quite some time on it now, and it changes every time. I've been painting it over two group sessions plus another four hours today. Hopefully I'll get a bit more time at the weekend to resolve the body, though hopefully without adding too much. And hopefully it will dry by next weekend!! For all WIPs, see my website.

Michael: Ashdown Forest again

I've started painting Ashdown Forest again. This is the view from Camp Hill, looking north.

Ashdown Forest
Acrylic on canvas, 30 x 30cm

I like the colours in this painting (ultramarine, cadmium yellow, red oxide, and a bit of cobalt in the sky, all over an underpainting in burnt sienna); and I like the perspective of the path leading you to the distant hills. On the other hand, I think the blocks of colour could do with more variety: some softer edges maybe in the distance, and some scruffier bits in the foreground.

sketch

A little sketch exploring the relationship between forest and sky - enough for me to decide that I don't like this style - but I do like painting sky!

Another work in progress

Will I ever get anything finished?!

These flowers are related to a particular memory and I'm trying to paint more what I feel about that than what I actually see. I might lose the two buds.

Richard - Latest landscape

My latest landscape, which I've been working on for the last few weeks. I thinks its about finished, at least for the moment ....

Sheri - Life painting

Here's my latest life painting, a fairly quick study which took about 2 and a half hours. It still needs a bit of work to the background & rags and is a bit overly blue & peach but otherwise I like it!

Lynn - Sculpture progress photos

Sculpture almost finished bar for waxing. The oak will tone down over time to a silver/grey/brown. Stages of mould making shown - hard, fibreglass case over rubber with seams in. Then original clay form.

Lynn - sculpture progress

Trip the Light Fantastic is now nearly finished. Needs to settle outside for a week or so before applying wax and final finish. The oak base will slowly age to a seasoned silver/brown/grey colour with cracks appearing as part of the aging/drying process.

Attached are a few photos showing the different stages of progress and final version.

Lynn - Next stage in unfinished still life paintings

Most up to date pics of these paintings. Red one needs lower third resolving. White one has a lot left to do. Watch this space.

Lynn - Two still unfinished still life paintings

Two still life paintings started at Emily's class, using some classical still life set-ups. I did some charcoal drawings from drawings on the Tuesday evening which were posted some time ago.
