Karen - Portrait

First session for me! Lovely group of people who were all very welcoming.Attempted a new portrait, started off with graphite drawing on tinted canvas

Then added lights and darks with charcoal and white chalk

Then more washes of colour with some background colour.

And more colour with a bit of sanding back, not what I intended doing at all! an experiment that didn't really work! Next time I will try a different approach, more accurate initial drawing and some underpainting.
