Back in the spring Kat, one of our London Road Group, volunteered to sit for one of our Saturday life drawing sessions. I liked the pose so worked it up into a finished picture. Oil on canvas, 60cmx80cm.

I've been a bit remiss in posting work over recent months. With our exhibition fast approaching, I thought it would be a good idea to start posting pictures of some of the new work I'll be showing. This first is a set of pictures inspired by the trees in winter on Ashdown Forest.

Sheri - New beginnings

I've been painting and drawing horses for a while and have been pretty much out of my comfort zone. Not naturally a horse enthusiast, they've been a challenge which has been at times rewarding but at others much less so! So, back in the comfort zone, I'm working on a new portrait of my daughter, reclining. I've just spent a couple of hours on it so far, mapping it out, drawing in the bare bones of the composition to get the proportions right. Many more hours to go, but it's good to be starting something human!

There are a lot of difficult areas that aren't really explained properly in the sketch, but hopefully the lights and darks that come into the painting will answer any questions. This is oil on canvas, about a metre wide.
